Our Services & Procedures

This is a list of the most common operations performed by our group. If a procedure has been recommended to you that is not on this list please contact us because different names and descriptions may have been used by your physician to describe one of these operations. Patients will often require more than one procedure during their operation. For example the Maze Procedure is often combined with repair of the mitral valve.

Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair

Available to most (over 90%) of patients with mitral insufficiency (leaking mitral valve). Avoids the potential problems associated with the  implantation of an artificial valve. If this procedure is performed prior to any substantial damage to the heart the patients life expectancy will be close to that of any other person their age.

Bloodless Cardiac Surgery

The ability to safely perform even the most complex cardiac surgery procedures without the use of blood transfusions has made Englewood Cardiac Surgery Associates a leader in the blood conservation community.

Minimally Invasive Aortic Surgery

Operations for patients with aneurysms (enlargement) of their aorta in their chest.

Coronary Bypass Grafting

We have a proven survival rate greater than 98% for this common operation. This is the most common cardiac (heart) operation performed in North America and provides the most durable and proven relief from the symptoms of angina while prolonging the life of most patients referred for surgery.

Aortic Valve Replacement

A variety of options are available for this operation which an provide relief for people with both stenotic (narrowed) and regurgitant (leaking) aortic valves. Our high survival and low stroke rates are amongst the best in the country.

Mitral Valve Replacement

For patients with stenosis (narrowing) of their mitral valve we offer a variety of replacement options. These are also offered to patients with leaking (regurgitant) mitral valves that cannot be repaired which is occasionally seen in patients with a history of rheumatic fever.

Maze Procedure for Atrial Fibrillation

With the recently developed use radiofrequency ablation this very effective operation for patients in atrial fibrillation can now be performed in addition to the other procedures.

Results

We encourage all patients to carefully review the outcomes of any procedure with the team they are going to work with.
