Bloodless Cardiac Surgery

Under the direction of Dr. James Klein, the ability to safely perform even the most complex cardiac surgery procedures without the use of blood transfusions has made Englewood Hospital a leader in the blood conservation community.

The transfusion rate at the hospital is remarkably low, and the success that Dr. Klein and his team have garnered has made him a nationally and internationally renowned surgeon to patients and institutions seeking expert opinions and care regarding the use of blood products during open heart procedures.  He has lectured extensively on these issues, and now performs the majority of all of his surgeries without the need for a blood transfusion.  Patients have traveled from all parts of the United States in order to be cared for by Dr. Klein, and the hospital is quite adept at dealing with out of state issues regarding patient preparation and consultation prior to surgery.
